Begin your career working with senior-level professionals at an established A/E firm that values employee input and collaboration. Burgess & Niple is looking for a summer 2026 Civil Engineer Co‑op, Transportation, to join our team in Boise.
Responsibilities- Work with a team of experienced civil engineers to develop preliminary studies and construction plans on innovative transportation projects in Idaho and the Pacific Northwest.
- Gain an understanding of roadway engineering design elements by assisting with calculating cost estimates, developing transportation plans, and utilizing geometric design techniques.
- Develop CAD knowledge and plan production skills from Professional Engineers while becoming familiar with the consulting engineering community’s role in creating and enhancing the transportation systems of Idaho and the Pacific Northwest.
- Learn the basics of industry specific 3D modeling design software.
- Maintain quality control of the work products and successfully complete assigned tasks on time and within budget.
- You are a current student in good academic standing pursuing a degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and have completed at least two years of your undergraduate degree or prior engineering co‑op experience.
- You have a strong interest in transportation engineering; previous co‑ops are a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Proficiency or interest in learning PDF markup/review tools, such as Blue Beam Revu or Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with Micro Station/Open Roads Designer or AutoCAD/Civil3D drawing software packages is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate, learn, and grow.
Typical work schedule is Monday–Friday, 30–40 hours per week. Housing and transportation to/from work is the responsibility of the co‑op; parking is provided.
