Professional Mechanical Engineer
Boise, Idaho
OverviewWe are seeking a Professional Mechanical Engineer to support mechanical and utility systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities. Work includes process piping, pumping and hydraulics, boilers and hot water loops, energy recovery, and general mechanical system design. This role is collaborative, technical, and offers the chance to mentor younger engineers and lead portions of multidisciplinary projects.
Responsibilities- Produce mechanical plans, specifications, PFDs, and P&IDs
- Perform system sizing for pumping, heating, cooling, and energy recovery systems
- Develop control descriptions and mechanical design reports
- Lead mechanical scope for small to mid size projects and support larger efforts
- Mentor junior engineers and review drawings, models, and calculations
- Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, process, and controls teams
- Conduct site visits and support construction-phase questions
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with codes and standards
Track scope, schedule, and budget for assigned work
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer license required
- 6+ years of mechanical design experience in water, wastewater, or industrial utilities
- Strong understanding of piping, pumping, boilers, hot water loops, and mechanical equipment sizing
- Ability to read and develop P&IDs, PFDs, and mechanical specifications
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit
- Strong communication and mentorship skills
- Experience with treatment plant mechanical systems or industrial utility networks
- Familiarity with hazardous area mechanical design
