We’re looking for a Piping Design Lead / Discipline Specialist who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our client’s business. This is a hybrid position; the ideal candidate will be located in Portland, OR;
Phoenix, AZ;
Pittsburgh, PA; or Boise, .
As a Piping Design Lead you will be accountable for schedule and technical quality of assigned routine engineering tasks. You’ll recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly, review vendor drawings, execute piping engineering design, and develop design estimates. You will mentor other professionals and guide them toward excellence.
Responsibilities- Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project schedules and budgets using in‑house and developed estimating and scheduling tools
- Assign resources and staff to project work
- Develop and implement Jacobs Quality Assurance Plan
- Perform QA for space management and design of process and mechanical piping
- Train and staff area leads and design personnel
- Interface with key engineering disciplines, specifically process and mechanical engineering, pipe stress, and structural
- Work with a multi‑disciplinary team to plan work and deliver design within schedule and budget
- Associate’s degree (AA) in Computer Aided Drafting and Design or a similar technical degree
- At least 10 years of piping design experience
- Advanced working knowledge of piping design in 2D/3D modeling software (AutoCAD, CADWorx, or Micro Station)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Navisworks, Microsoft products (Outlook, Excel, etc.), and estimating software such as Microsoft Project
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Electronics industry experience
- Forward‑thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
- Displayed ability to learn quickly and drive continuous knowledge growth
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with multi‑disciplinary teams
- Experience with leading or managing teams
- Working knowledge of designs from other disciplines
