Overview
WSP is initiating a search for a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to join our Power & Energy team in Houston, TX with consideration for additional locations:
Seattle, WA;
Hailey, ;
Boise, ;
Overland Park, KS;
Atlanta, GA;
Oradell, NJ; and Mt. Laurel, NJ.
The candidate will work on projects with our Power Generation Team, supporting client objectives and solving technical challenges as part of a growing organization.

Responsibilities- Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities.
- Prepare mechanical equipment and packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, RFQs, and technical bid evaluations.
- Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data; interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers.
- Ensure effective communications with other engineering disciplines.
- Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems.
- Participate in the development of PFDs and P& projects.
- Perform piping design activities including sizing, pressure drop calculations, stress analysis, and pipe support design.
- Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design for industrial facilities.
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Working knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of Smart Plant 3D or CADWorx.
- Experience using Caesar II or AutoPIPE;
Thermoflow. - Strong written and verbal communication skills in English to work effectively with internal teams and clients.
- Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s safety, health, drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek; occasional travel may be required depending on project needs.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
- Power plant design experience.
- Renewable natural gas plant design experience.
Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $73,100 – $125,400
