About the Job
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Process Development and Optimization:
Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes such as Surface Mount Technology (SMT), through-hole assembly, reflow and wave soldering, conformal coating, and testing. - Design for Manufacturability (DFM):
Evaluate new product designs for manufacturability and provide feedback to design teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective production. - Equipment Management:
Select, qualify, maintain, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment (e.g. pick & place machines, reflow ovens, AOI/X-ray inspection systems) to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime. - Quality Control & Continuous Improvement:
Monitor production yields and performance metrics (cycle time, scrap rate), analyze defects, and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions. - Documentation and Training:
Create and update process documentation, work instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Train operators and Technicians on new processes and best practices. - Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams including design, quality assurance, supply chain, and production to facilitate smooth new product introductions (NPI) and sustain existing operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing), or equivalent experience.
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in PCB assembly, or electronics manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of SMT and through-hole processes, soldering principles, and PCB materials.
- Proficiency with CAD and manufacturing software.
- Familiarity with industry standards (i.e. IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.), and compliance requirements (e.g. RoHS, REACH).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
Must be proficient using Excel, Word, various Databases and able to perform moderately complex computer tasks as assigned.
