Summary

Of Position

The Project Engineer Diver performs a variety of engineering duties including field inspection, material testing, evaluation, analysis, design, and technical document preparation under the direction of a higher‑level engineer. The role requires compliance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and internal procedures and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs field inspection and evaluation of structures under the direction of a higher‑level engineer.
  • Performs testing of materials and incorporates results into reports.
  • Performs complex engineering computations using conventional practices.
  • Prepares comprehensive engineering documents—including inspection reports, design plans, and specifications.
  • Actively participates in internal project meetings and works to resolve project issues.
  • Promotes a safe work culture.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Technical knowledge, experience, and capabilities in the area of practice.
  • Proficiency in computer‑assisted engineering and office software and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, evaluate facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks efficiently and effectively.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or master’s degree in civil, structural, or ocean engineering from an accredited four‑year university.
  • 0‑4 years of engineering experience.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • ADCI Commercial Diver or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Valid US Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements , Work Environment & Safety

The duties require the employee to regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee may lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While in the field, the employee may walk in rugged conditions, work in adverse weather, and stand up to eight hours or more at a time.

This position requires maintaining current industry knowledge through active involvement in professional organizations and/or other activities that may require additional and/or flexible working hours.
