Overview
MA Externship role at Primary Health Medical Group. Idaho's largest independent medical group, specializing in family practice and urgent care, with multiple locations in the Treasure Valley.
RequirementsPrimary Health Medical Group is seeking high-performing Medical Assistant students for our 4-5 week Externship program (160-180 hours, depending on school requirements). Our program includes:
- A week-long orientation to Primary Health
- Full review of Primary Health policies and procedures through digital training modules
- One-on-one training with assigned preceptors to cover and review back-office skills
- Comprehensive Occupational Health and Drug Screening
- A variety of settings/roles to include Urgent Care, Family Practice, COVID Triage, and COVID Vaccine Administration
To be considered for the program, students must be currently enrolled in a Nationally Accredited MA program (either fully in-person or hybrid in-person and online; didactic and skills-based education), complete an interview, and complete an assessment to demonstrate their knowledge of triage reporting, administering medication, and venipuncture skills.
Your Experience- Medical education and passing a skills assessment conducted by PHMG staff
- If offered a permanent position, students have one year to obtain their CMA or RMA license
- Venipuncture skills
- Customer service-oriented attitude/behavior
- Computer proficiency. Ability to use applicable software as required to perform the essential functions of the job
- Recommended vaccines to include annual influenza, Hep B, TDaP, MMR, Varicella, and TB

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a background check and drug screening. While not mandatory, we strongly recommend that new hires stay current on vaccinations, such as the annual influenza vaccine, and provide proof of immunization or schedule it within two weeks of the start date.
