RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) All RT equipment – patients rarely come out intubated, if they do RT is called to help support; many have an oral airway in place upon arrival.

ICU patients – do they recover in PACU? Yes – unless they remain intubated. RNs read strips? Yes, electronically.

How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? Generally, 3 days to learn the three recovery areas: peds, adult inpatient, adult outpatient.

Additional Notes:
We have a happy department, and we appreciate working with contract nurses. We are very welcoming and end up becoming good friends. There are lots of fun activities in Boise. Most contract nurses extend. We primarily use travelers due to medical leaves. This is the busiest PACU in the system. We have a great anesthesia team that is always readily available.

Use Voalte phone for communication – can text surgeons or anesthesia if needed.
