Patient Educator RN – Children's Endocrinology Clinic
St. Luke’s Health System in Boise is seeking a Patient Educator RN to join our Children's Endocrinology Clinic team located at the Children's Pavilion.
What You Can Expect
The Patient Educator will work with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes patients and their parents. The role includes providing education, communication, and support for diabetes management; offering prescription support and management; education on injections and/or pump use; diet education; and ongoing management.
The Diabetic Educator will be embedded within the diabetes clinic and will operate on a rotating schedule across three roles: educator of the day (working with physicians during appointments), one‑on‑one educator (meeting with patients and families individually to discuss dosage, food selections, and overall support), or inpatient educator (providing in‑depth education to patients and families for new hospital admissions or readmissions).
Schedule
4 or 9‑hour shifts Monday–Friday, day shifts, rotating every 6 weeks on call for nights/weekends.
Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor of Nursing degree. - Experience:
1 year. - Licenses/Certifications:
Current RN license in the state of practice and current Basic Life Support (BLS) provider certification via American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Diabetes Educator – highly ideal.
- Experience working with Type 1 and Type 2 patients.
