Responsibilities- Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
- Assess patient’s status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, hemodynamic stability, pain, comfort, and mental status.
- Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors.
- Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes.
- Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions.
- Develop an individualized plan of care.
- Implement patient plan of care by protecting from injury, safe equipment operation, speaking up, handling specimens, adhering to precautions, communicating status, managing pain, medication safety, monitoring, infection control, wound care, managing co‑morbidities, fluid management, assessment of knowledge level, education, inclusion in decision‑making, protecting dignity, providing culturally competent care, and providing consistent care across settings.
- Evaluate patient’s progress toward outcomes.
- Transfer care as needed; provide hand‑off report.
- Delegate tasks per state Nurse Practice Act, board, laws, job descriptions.
- Document episode of care completely and accurately.
- Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration.
- Serve as a member of multidisciplinary team in planning patient care.
- Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
- Participate in performance appraisal process.
- Use problem‑solving and conflict resolution.
- Maintain required competencies and pursue professional growth.
- Act as patient advocate and maintain confidentiality.
- Comply with SCA and facility policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and safety huddles.
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- One year of acute care and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Current state licensure to practice in good standing.
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or current certification.
- Completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days or current certification.
- Completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if pediatric care included within 90 days or current certification.
