Job SummaryThe Sous Chef will lead and manage all BOH staff, ensuring high-quality and efficient operations in a fast‑paced restaurant/pub environment. Responsibilities include personnel management, staff motivation and development, food safety, and customer satisfaction. The Sous Chef serves as shift supervisor, solves operational problems, and maintains order during high‑volume periods.
Shift40 hours per week with a combination of opening, mid, and closing shifts. Weekend and holiday work is required.
Job Responsibilities- Lead and manage all hourly BOH staff in the brewpub kitchen according to strict quality and efficiency standards.
- Collaborate closely with pub management to coordinate BOH and FOH operations seamlessly.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling.
- Train and coordinate staff training for growth and development.
- Implement quality control procedures to guarantee standards.
- In the absence of the Executive Chef, manage shifts, make daily decisions, provide staff support, interact with guests, and handle staff cutting while ensuring standards, product quality, and cleanliness.
- Assist in maintaining a safe working environment, reporting incidents to the Executive Chef and HR immediately.
- Assist with daily orders to ensure the kitchen has the necessary products.
- Significant restaurant kitchen experience – 3‑5 years minimum.
- Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Excellent leadership skills and proven ability to motivate team members.
- Proficient in all kitchen positions (line cook, prep cook, etc.).
- Active problem solver capable of completing tasks while maintaining standards.
- Ability to manage responsibilities in a high‑stress, fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Expert‑level knowledge of the food and beverage industry, including BOH operations.
