Job Title: Field Technician II
Pay: $37–55/hr
Job Summary: The Field Technician II will inspect, test, and maintain high, medium, and low voltage electrical power equipment. Technicians will work with equipment such as SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, pad‑mount and GSU transformers, grounding, instrument transformers, and a variety of switches (manual and motor‑operated). Technicians will implement safety policies.
Responsibilities- Perform entry‑level testing of high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment independently while collaborating with senior technicians.
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports documenting all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment components.
- Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
- Must be able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with the following:
- Voltage verification
- Contact resistance
- Insulation resistance
- Test equipment set‑up
- Reading and understanding one‑line drawings
- Understanding equipment identification and associated hazards
- Understanding practical application of electrical theory and hazards (LOTO, arc flash, grounding, reading schematics)
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, or military experience preferred.
- 2–4 years of relevant industry experience.
- NETA II certification.
- Ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 70 lbs.
