AI Backend Engineer; Founding Engineer

Security Atlas AI is seeking a Founding AI Backend Engineer to help design and build the core infrastructure behind our platform. This role will focus on developing the systems that power our AI tool evaluation engine, governance workflows, risk scoring framework, and automation pipelines. You will work directly with the founder to build the technical backbone of the platform, including database architecture, scoring models, APIs, and AI-assisted analysis capabilities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building foundational systems in an early-stage startup environment.

• Design and develop backend services supporting the Security Atlas AI platform
• Architect scalable database structures supporting the AI risk evaluation framework
• Build the AI risk scoring engine used to evaluate AI tools
• Implement workflows and automations for vendor assessments
• Integrate LLM capabilities to support analysis and reporting features
• Develop APIs supporting integrations and platform expansion
• Optimize system performance and data integrity
• Contribute to technical architecture decisions and platform roadmap

• 4+ years of backend development experience
• Strong experience with Python or Node.js
• Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL, Supabase, or similar
• Experience building SaaS platforms or API-driven applications
• Familiarity with LLM APIs or AI-assisted automation workflows
• Strong problem-solving and system design skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment
• English is the primary working language at Security Atlas AI. Candidates should be comfortable communicating in English in a professional environment

• Experience building scoring engines or rule-based systems
