In this role, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of Customs and Border Protection. You will play a crucial role in transforming paper collections processing to modernized electronic solutions through our Revenue Modernization program.

• Design application components using modern software engineering practices.
• Create logical and physical data models aligned with business and system requirements.
• Architect, optimize, and manage relational Oracle database models for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical designs and actionable development tasks.
• Define APIs, services, and integrations that support data-driven workflows across systems.
• Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and normalization/denormalization decisions.
• Implement data governance, data quality, and security best practices.
• Provide requirement clarifications to development teams.
• Document system architecture, data dictionaries, schemas, and code changes.

Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Software Engineer Principal must have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Experience:
  
  8+ years of related work experience as a software engineer or similar
• Demonstrated experience with database modeling tools and methodologies (ER modeling, dimensional modeling, schema design).
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript/Type Script).
• Hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and managed database services.
• Experience using Jira / confluence or similar Dev Sec Ops  solutions
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts for business and technical audiences.
• US citizenship required

• Experience with data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and analytics pipelines.
• Background in microservices architecture or event-driven systems.
• Knowledge of data privacy and compliance frameworks.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience building highly available, distributed systems.
