We’re seeking an experienced Dive Lesson Instructor to join the Aquatics Team at Treasure Valley Family YMCA in West Boise. The role involves teaching dive skills and water safety to participants at various levels.
Schedule:
This is a part-time position averaging 6 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are Monday/Wednesday/Thursday; 4:45 pm – 6:45 pm.
- Fulfill all job requirements from the Dive Coach Job Description.
- Provide individual dive lessons focused on skill development for the participant.
- Communicate with supervisor, staff, members, guests, and volunteers in a clear, concise, and positive manner using Listen First skills.
- Build relationships with members, participants, and volunteers.
- Promote teamwork and cooperative effort.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and practice good safety habits.
- At least two years of experience coaching diving at a club, high school, or collegiate level preferred; other experience coaching or working with youth considered.
- Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue, green) for swim-test necklaces.
- Experience teaching dives and techniques related to competitive diving, or willingness to learn from experienced peer coaches. Gymnastics coaching experience is directly transferable.
- Experience analyzing diving performance and identifying areas for improvement, or willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of current training methods for all aspects of competitive diving, or willingness to learn.
- Basic Life Support – prerequisite of hire with 14‑day grace period to obtain.
- First Aid – prerequisite of hire with 14‑day grace period to obtain.
- Oxygen – prerequisite of hire with 14‑day grace period to obtain.
- Y Swim Instructor – prerequisite of hire with 14‑day grace period to obtain.
- Certification attesting to Safe Sports Training completion within 14 days of hire.
