This part‑time position averages 2‑20 hours weekly. Pay is $14.35 – $16.00 hourly.
The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and offers a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness centre, strength‑training systems, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools and multiple youth programming areas.
Responsibilities- Actively engage members to provide education, demonstration and knowledge necessary to use all modalities of exercise equipment, helping them meet the two Cause Measures for adults.
- Proactively provide members with information about how to maximise the value of their membership, resulting in enrollment in Y programmes (personal training, challenges, fun runs, etc.) that help them achieve the two Case Measures for adults.
- Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants on the wellness floor, responding to emergencies and safety‑related issues.
- Develop meaningful relationships with members to create a sense of belonging and connection.
- Report any equipment that is not functioning.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience in a related field.
- Preferred experience:
Personal Training Certification, Y’s Foundations of Strength & Conditioning, or a B.S. in Exercise Science or equivalent. - Must be able to engage others in conversation and make all people feel welcome.
- Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; sensitive, adaptable, professional and articulate.
