Route Relief Utility Driver

Overview

Route Relief Utility Driver at Alsco Uniforms — Non-Exempt classifcation. This role supports the Service Department by covering routes, performing service-related tasks, and assisting with upselling/cross-selling and delivering superior customer service. Reports to the District Manager.

• Perform all responsibilities of a Route Sales Representative and related tasks.
• Learn and support all routes; run routes as needed for holidays, vacations, or other vacancies.
• When not on a route, assist with rush deliveries, renewals, audits, training, and other tasks assigned by supervision.
• Solicit new customers, upsell/cross-sell, sample all lines of service or product, and ensure a profitable product mix.
• Participate in promotions, contests, training, and audits.
• Follow company policies and procedures regarding new customers and overall service delivery.
• Ensure customer loyalty and outstanding service; build relationships, educate customers, and proactively resolve concerns with supervision.
• Safely operate a delivery vehicle on each trip in accordance with laws and company policy; maintain vehicle cleanliness and conduct regular inspections.
• Handle and process customer payments; keep route paperwork current.
• Ensure timely and accurate deliveries of textile loads, collect soiled textiles, and maintain inventories; service facility maintenance products as needed.
• Monitor competitive activity; keep service agreements current and renewed.
• Return from route and offload soiled textiles; properly receive items at the facility.
• Prepare route paperwork accurately and follow check-in procedures.
• Follow written and verbal instructions; perform other tasks as directed by supervision.

• Have and maintain a valid driver's license; CDL when applicable; must be 21 years or older.
• Maintain a driving record free of chargeable accidents, speeding, safety, or other violations.
• Demonstrate excellent vehicle operation skills and verifiable minimum one year of safe driving experience.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and route sales skills.
• Excellent verbal/written communication in English; able to comprehend and follow directions; good time management skills; team player.
• Ability to recognize colors, sizes, and types of product; count, add, and subtract accurately.

• High School graduation or equivalent experience; qualified driver’s license.

Daily travel by delivery vehicle within a route.

• Typical environmental conditions: operating vehicles on public roads, visiting customer locations, and working in an industrial laundry facility or depot.
• Indoor and outdoor work in an industrial facility.
• Physical demands include sitting, grasping, driving, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 75 lbs, and pushing/pulling carts as needed.
