Tax & General Accountant

The Tax & General Accountant is responsible for supporting both tax-related activities and general accounting functions across the organization. This role includes preparing and submitting sales tax filings, assisting with corporate tax processes, and performing essential general ledger and payroll-related accounting tasks. The Tax & General Accountant will work collaboratively with internal teams and external tax partners to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.

• Prepare, post, and reconcile all payroll-related journal entries in accordance with monthly and year-end reporting requirements.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts associated with payroll, benefits, and other employee-related transactions.
• Manage intercompany processing, including month-end closing activities, preparing statements, issuing shared services invoices, and generating audit support documentation.
• Process monthly general ledger accruals and record recurring and non-recurring expenses.
• Review and update monthly FTE reporting in coordination with the Payroll team.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and support the closing process.
• Prepare and submit U.S. and Canadian sales tax returns on a monthly/quarterly basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
• Coordinate with external tax providers regarding corporate tax payments and supporting documentation.
• Assist with gathering and organizing financial information required for sales prequalification packages and annual renewals.
• Support ad hoc and special projects, including system improvements, process enhancements, and compliance initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in relation to sales tax and general ledger activities.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to resolve issues professionally.
