Pharmacy Customer Service Associate – Walgreens

Base pay range: $16.00/hr – $18.00/hr

• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
• Register sales on the assigned cash register, provide courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving customer issues to ensure a positive experience.
• Recommend items for sale and provide trade‑up or companion item suggestions to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Collect cash and distribute change accurately, and process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as required.
• Take customers to the over‑the‑counter aisle when possible to locate products.
• Maintain clean and well‑merchandised counters and shelves, perform inventory and record‑keeping duties as directed by the store manager or shift leader.
• Support pharmacy department operations, including entering patient and drug information, verifying accurate drug dispensing, and managing prescription workflow.
• Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and comply with company policies and the Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Participate in telephone call handling that does not require pharmacist attention, including physician calls.
• Process manual claims and perform clerical pharmacy duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
• Assist with pharmacy inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals, and file claims for over‑ages, shortages, or damaged goods.
• Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
• Construct and maintain promotional displays and seasonal merchandise. Perform inventory rotation using first‑in, first‑out methodology.
• Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services, poster printing, and machine suggestions.
• Assist with pick‑up responsibilities, monitor orders, and deliver orders to customers upon arrival at the store.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly store condition and appearance, following all company policies and procedures.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

• Fluent reading, writing, and speaking in English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.

• At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior experience with Walgreens is a plus.
• Strong math skills for accurate prescription dispensing (counting, measuring, weighing).
• Proficient computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification is preferred.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
• Attend required training sessions and complete continuing education credits in healthcare and pharmacy.
