Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Cloud Computing: Infrastructure & Operations, Cybersecurity
Every locomotive that reports its health in real time and every railcar that returns to service faster depends on a network that simply works. At Wi-Tronix, the architecture you design will carry live data from locomotives and railcars across North America to the cloud, where rail operators use it to keep crews safe and trains moving. We are hiring a Network Architect who wants to set the direction, lead the team, and still be in the room when the hardest design decisions get made.
Wi-Tronix is the digital platform the rail industry turns to for real-time IoT data, AI-powered analytics, and intelligent video. This is not a typical enterprise IT environment, and it is not a carrier operations center. Our network connects critical infrastructure, our AWS migration is underway and needs an owner, and reliability is a standard we hold each other to.
THE ROLEYou will be the senior technical authority for Wi-Tronix enterprise, cloud, and customer connectivity, owning architecture, reliability, and security across on-premises data centers, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and the cellular networks that link our onboard systems. You will lead and develop senior Network and Security Engineers as a player-coach.
- Define the network strategy, standards, and roadmap across data center, campus, WAN, AWS, and customer connectivity
- Lead network engineering for our AWS migration, from architecture and security through cutover and steady-state operations
- Own cellular and Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity, including carrier integrations, private Access Point Names (APNs), and secure routing
- Review and approve complex network changes, and serve as the senior escalation point for major network, carrier, and security incidents
- Partner with Information Security on segmentation, Zero Trust-aligned controls, and SOC 2 audit readiness
- Lead, coach, and hire for the Network Engineering team, and drive automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and observability
You are an architect who writes the standard, then stays close enough to the work to know when it needs to change. You would rather design a network that never shows up in an incident report than be the hero who fixes it at 2am.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 8+ years of progressive enterprise network engineering and architecture, including time as a senior or lead network architect
- 3+ years of technical leadership or people management, mentoring senior engineers and setting technical direction
- Deep expertise in BGP and OSPF routing, switching, segmentation, secure remote access, DNS and DHCP, wireless, high availability, and capacity planning
- Strong AWS networking and hybrid-cloud experience, plus hands-on work with Internet Service Providers, cellular or IoT connectivity, and carrier escalations
- Bonus: AWS Solutions Architect (SAA-C03) and Advanced Networking Specialty (ANS-C01), CCNP, CCIE, or JNCIE, Juniper, Cisco, and Check Point, network automation with Ansible, Terraform, or Python
A specific and real mission: the network behind real-time data for freight and passenger railroads. Ownership of an AWS migration from design through cutover, a named career path to Manager, Network Engineering, and benefits that back your whole life: medical, dental, and vision with HSA (employer contribution), employer-paid life, AD&D, and disability coverage, 24/7 telemedicine, an Employee Assistance Program, and financial wellness resources.
