We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented CNC Engineer to join our client, a unique manufacturing organization located in the southwest suburbs of Illinois. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-impact pilot project to bring CNC machining in-house. You’ll work in a hands-on environment with visibility, ownership over processes, and the ability to make a tangible impact on production efficiency and quality.

This newly created role provides critical support for our client's Manufacturing team. Currently, CNC machining is outsourced. The CNC Engineer will lead a pilot project to establish internal machining capabilities, including process development, equipment setup, and team coordination.

• Lead the setup, programming, and operation of CNC machines for internal production.
• Develop, document, and optimize machining processes to ensure efficiency, precision, and quality.
• Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and adherence to specifications.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues, implement solutions, and maintain process consistency.
• Evaluate and recommend new machining tools, fixtures, and techniques.
• Train and mentor team members on CNC equipment operation and best practices.
• Support scaling of internal CNC capabilities from pilot to full production.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in CNC programming, setup, and operation (mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and tooling.
• Experience leading projects, process improvements, or pilot initiatives preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a team environment.

The compensation for this position is $80,000 to $137,000 base salary and full benefits including medical, dental, and 401k match.
