Position Summary

The Plant Manager will be working at our Packaging plant in Bolingbrook, IL. This facility opened in 2007 and operates 14 primary and 11 secondary lines. At this plant, we package cereal and snacks for multiple large national and global customers. This facility employs 400+ non‑union team members and is known for its exceptional high standards to performance and customer service.

The role will be responsible for all phases of plant management and all activities that are required to safely package products with the most efficient use of labor and materials on a scheduled shift and line(s).

Job Duties
  • Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Supervise a total of 400+ Maker's Pride and temporary employees.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these employees which include hourly, salary supervision, human resources, quality, safety, and finance.
  • Provide leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable federal, state and local laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training new employees; planning, assigning and directing work;raising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.
  • Oversee the packaging operation with minimum waste and labor cost.
  • Responsible for maintaining a 5S environment.
  • Responsible for scheduling, maintaining and approving production.
  • Responsible for complying with customer service and Company standards.
  • Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Resolves employee complaints or submits unsettled complaints to the Human Resources Manager for action. Handle all disciplinary actions and employee disputes.
  • Train, develop and evaluate all employees to meet future needs.
  • Attend meetings; make presentations, etc. as needed.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times.
  • Comply with all safety, health and environmental regulations as prescribed by law.
  • Comply with all Company rules, regulations and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Four-year college degree in business or engineering. Food Science is a plus. MBA is preferred.
  • (5) Five years to (10) years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment;
    Packaging experience a plus.
  • Experience in a non-union manufacturing environment and union avoidance a plus. Plant responsibility of 200+ employees is required.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Experience with cost control, food quality and safety.
  • Excellent communication, conflict management, decision-making, motivational and organizational skills required.
  • Strong self-confidence and leadership skills required.
  • Basic mechanical skills required.
Knowledge Of
  • Procurement, products, and production processes
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP
  • Prior plant management experience to exceed 5 years.
  • Food experience a must.
  • Thorough understanding of food safety and quality

  • Well-developed influence leadership skills
  • Experienced in conflict resolution.
  • Prioritizes work based on short- and long-term objectives.
  • Successfully analyzes and presents data to multiple levels of the organization.
