Production Manager, Operations Manager

Reporting to the Production Manager / Director of Operations, this role is responsible for supervising the day‑to‑day manufacturing operations and performance of employees for a designated value stream. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
As a Production Supervisor You Will- Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas, seeking to meet and improve schedule dates, reduce process times, reduce inventory levels, increase utilization of resources and manage department priorities.
- Control manpower and materials needed to complete jobs accurately and on time.
- Guide/monitor the group toward its goals, ensuring employee productivity, resolving problems, with authority to change work roles and distribution.
- Assist in initiating, implementing and leading continuous improvement activities, researching new processes, procedures and equipment that may improve throughput, quality and profitability.
- Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes through lean concepts and Six Sigma, partnering with Operational Excellence to establish value stream priorities and implement improvements while driving a lean culture.
- Supervise the work of manufacturing employees.
- Track absenteeism and maintain and approve timekeeping records.
- Ensure effective employee relations by providing mentoring and development and resolving employee issues through coaching.
- Make employment decisions.
- Arrange for training to develop employees’ work skills to improve department throughput and reduce scrap/rework.
- Recommend disciplinary actions.
- Evaluate and update team member performance against job requirements and performance goals.
- Ensure employees’ personal safety by providing safety training for all job aspects.
- Lead accident investigations, safety observations, and hazard mapping.
- Work with Warehouse Manager to maintain proper inventory levels.
- Coordinate projects with other supervisors and departments.
- Monitor production schedules and results and inform management of delays.
- Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provide regular progress reports.
- Support NPD introductions to production, troubleshoot processes, review and update work instructions and train team members.
- Work with Supply Chain, Planning and QA to resolve parts, inventory and quality issues.
Responsible for day‑to‑day performance of a group of ~6+ employees. Guides and monitors the group toward its goals, resolving problems, and has authority to change work roles and distribution. Provides input on Human Resources matters such as hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
We Are Looking For Someone Who- Has 5‑7 years of progressive manufacturing experience.
- Has a minimum of 3 years directing an hourly or manufacturing workforce.
- Holds a High School diploma or GED; a Bachelor’s Degree is a plus.
- Possesses intermediate computer skills, including the MS Office suite and business planning/inventory systems.
- Has excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Has extensive knowledge and leadership in Lean, Six Sigma, 5P, or other continuous improvement models; has participated in related improvement projects.
General office environment, PC use; light lifting (occasionally 25 lbs or less); stooping; standing.
What We Offer YouTypical pay is $71,200 – $92,600 annually. Pay is based upon skills, experience, and qualifications. This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program.
