Laser Operator; CNC MAZAK

Overview

Laser Operator (2:30pm to 11:00pm) CNC MAZAK at G&W Electric Co.

In this role you will operate, program, and troubleshoot Mazak laser machines. You will create efficient nesting programs to optimize material usage, maintain machine performance, and ensure high-quality production standards.

• Operate and maintain Mazak laser cutting machines to produce parts according to specifications.
• Create and optimize nesting programs to maximize material utilization and minimize waste.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues related to Mazak laser equipment.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders to ensure precise cutting and adherence to specifications.
• Monitor machine operations, adjust settings, and perform quality checks to ensure consistent output.
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and repairs on Mazak laser equipment.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines and address technical challenges.
• Maintain accurate records of production, maintenance activities, and material usage.
• Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.

• Proven experience as a CNC Operator, specifically with Mazak laser cutting machines.
• Proficiency in creating and modifying nesting programs to optimize material usage.
• Extensive troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing and resolving complex machine issues.
• Strong understanding of CNC programming languages and CAD/CAM software.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with material properties and cutting parameters for various metals.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under minimal supervision.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training is a plus.

• Experience with additional CNC equipment or machining processes.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques.
• Familiarity with safety and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.

• Work is classified as Medium - Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL).
• Frequencies - Occasional;
  Frequent;
  Continuous (defined in job description).
• Lifting Demands:
  Lift up to 75 pounds occasionally with assistance; up to 40 pounds frequently; carry up to 40 pounds occasionally up to 25 feet; push/pull up to 40 pounds frequently; push/pull more than 40 pounds occasionally with assistance.
• Postural Demands:
  Standing continuously; walking continuously; bending/stooping frequent; squatting/kneeling frequent; lifting frequent.
• Miscellaneous Demands:
  Gripping, manipulation, fingering continuous; variable hand/power tool use frequent; two-person tasks with assistive devices as needed.

Pay Range is typically between $24 - $30 per hour. Pay is based on candidate skills, experience, and qualifications.
