Registered Nurse SANE Adult - Per Diem

Provides high-quality, cost-effective care to sexual assault patients, including conducting forensic exams, evidence collection, and physical assessments in accordance with state and hospital guidelines. Ensures patient privacy, offers crisis intervention, and educates patients on procedures, STD prevention, and follow-up care. Coordinates with law enforcement and advocacy groups, maintains evidence chain of custody, and may provide legal testimony when needed.

• Performing forensic exams, evidence collection, injury treatment, documentation, and patient education.
• Participates in training and community outreach, and pursues ongoing professional development.

• Completion of IAFN-accredited SANE coursework with Illinois clinical component; RN licensure in Illinois.
• Preferred Baccalaureate Degree, emergency or women’s health experience, and minimum one year as a SANE RN.
• Certification from Illinois or approval by the Illinois SANE Coordinator required.

• Knowledge of forensic nursing, trauma-informed care, evidence handling, and patient confidentiality.
• Strong communication, assessment, and crisis intervention skills are essential.
