Field Service Technician
Prater Industries, a leader in airlocks, mills, and separators since 1925, is seeking a hands-on Lab/Service Technician to join our Operations department. In this dual-focus role, you will be instrumental in testing equipment to support sales and engineering while providing expert technical service to our customers both locally and internationally.
As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of specialized equipment. Your key duties will include:
- Testing & Analysis:
Performing routine tests on Prater equipment and prototypes. You will operate laboratory tools such as vac-screens, weigh scale balances, Ro-taps, and Malvern particle analyzers. - Data Management:
Gathering and documenting test results on laboratory computers and performing basic mathematical calculations. - Technical Support:
Troubleshooting technical problems and performing maintenance on equipment at our facility and customer sites. - Customer Success:
Assisting customers with the setup and startup of new equipment and systems. - Operations Support:
Assisting in the operation of toll facilities and performing simple plumbing and electrical wiring to support testing.
We are looking for a self-motivated team player who enjoys mechanical work and problem-solving.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications are a plus. - Technical
Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). - Safety & Compliance:
Thorough understanding of OSHA requirements and safety best practices. - Certifications:
Forklift experience and certification are required. - Travel:
Must possess a valid passport with no restrictions for international travel. International and domestic travel for this role is required. - Math Aptitude:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Physical Demands & Environment
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Strong hand-eye coordination.
- Comfortable working on unforgiving surfaces and in environments with varying temperatures, noises, and odors.
