Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) in Bolivar, MO is seeking an experienced and motivated Health Information Management Supervisor to join our team! CMH is made up of 34 primary and specialty clinics, 6 long-term care facilities and 1 residential care facility. Offering acute care, emergency services, ambulatory care, pharmacies, walk-in clinics, surgeries, addiction recovery, rehab therapies and more, CMH has its community covered!
About the department: The Health Information Management (HIM) Department plays a critical role in ensuring that patient health information is accurate, accessible, secure, and compliant with all regulatory standards. HIM professionals support clinical care, billing, quality improvement, compliance, data analytics, and organizational decision-making by managing health records and health information systems.
A typical dayA typical day includes: Overseeing daily operations within the HIM department, ensuring the accuracy, security, and compliance of health information, and supporting staff in delivering high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensures compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and regulatory standards
- Monitors workflow, assigns tasks, and optimizes processes to improve efficiency and quality
- Collaborates with clinical, administrative, and IT teams to address documentation or system issues
- Assists in preparing audits, reports, and departmental metrics
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and policy development
- Troubleshoots EHR/HIM-related issues as needed
- Education:
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field (RHIT/RHIA preferred) - Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years of HIM experience; supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred - Skills:
Knowledge of medical terminology, coding standards, and EHR workflows, plus a strong understanding of HIPAA and regulatory requirements; excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment - Licensure/Certification: RHIA or RHIT preferred
The position is: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
