OVERVIEWGolf Canada is the National Sports Federation and governing body for golf in Canada representing more than 380,000 golfers and 1,500 member clubs across the country. The Manager, Technology Operations & Workplace Systems reports to the Chief Operating Officer and oversees Golf Canada’s technology operations, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable systems that support both onsite and remote employees.
The role leads day‑to‑day IT service delivery, infrastructure, cybersecurity, vendor management, and contributes to long‑term technology planning aligned with organizational priorities.
Technology Operations & Service Delivery
- Oversee daily IT operations, ensuring high availability and performance of systems, networks, and end-user services.
- Manage IT support services for both onsite and remote staff, ensuring timely resolution of issues and strong user satisfaction.
- Support staff and volunteer onboarding, offboarding, and training on central IT systems.
- Lead on building security systems and configuration of all office requirements.
- Establish and monitor service levels, workflows, and escalation protocols.
Infrastructure & Workplace Systems Management
- Maintain and optimize core IT infrastructure, including networks, cloud services, endpoints, and collaboration tools.
- Ensure systems are scalable and resilient to support organizational growth and hybrid work environments.
- Lead system upgrades, implementations, and integrations.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Develop and enforce IT security policies, standards, and best practices.
- Oversee cybersecurity measures including endpoint protection, access controls, data protection, and incident response.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and privacy requirements.
Strategic Planning & Projects
- Partner with the COO and leadership team to develop and execute the IT roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through technology and automation.
- Lead and deliver IT projects on time and within budget.
Vendor & Budget Management
- Manage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and consultants.
- Oversee IT procurement, negotiation, contracts, and licensing.
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost‑effective solutions.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop one (1) direct report, fostering a service‑oriented and accountable team culture.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet operational and project demands.
Event Support
- Provide online/hybrid support for organizational events hosted virtually (e.g., Annual General Meeting, Volunteer Training).
- Deliver in‑person support for event delivery and speaker requirements for internal and external events (e.g., RBC Canadian Open, Town Halls).
- Strong knowledge of IT operations, including end‑user support, workplace technology, networking fundamentals, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience supporting and administering business systems and cloud‑based workplace tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Entra , Intune MDM, Fortinet networking equipment, Voice‑over‑IP phone systems, collaboration platforms, endpoint management).
- Solid understanding of data management, system integrations, and practical application architecture in an operational environment.
- Post‑secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7–10+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility.
- Experience in a mid‑size organization or similar environment preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CISSP, PMP) considered an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences (staff, leadership, Board, and volunteers).
