As a member of the BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions team, you will generally be responsible for cleaning in a designated zone with an emphasis on quality control, health and safety, and striving to exceed client expectations.

• Clean floors by sweeping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Dry/wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors, including washroom floors.
• Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment when required.
• Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor.
• Transport maintenance machinery between floors and job sites when necessary.
• Clean and store equipment and machinery used.
• Clean glass areas requiring ladders, scaffolding or other extension equipment.
• Clean washroom floors, including stripping and finishing.
• Clean stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required.
• Load and unload supplies and replenish cleaning solutions.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Steam clean or shampoo carpets.
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Remove snow and debris from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, or snow shovels, or spread snow melting chemicals.

• Experience in performing various cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment.
• Experience in using floor maintenance machines, cleaning equipment, materials and solutions.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the provisions that apply to this work, including WHMIS.
• Ability to lift, push and pull heavy items as well as climb ladders.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients and the general public.
• Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays and shifts as assigned, and to work in multiple locations.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and to prepare and maintain manual and electronic records.

• Must meet security clearance requirements, where applicable.
• Must have a valid Class G licence (may be required).

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

This is a regular, full‑time or part‑time position with a salary range of $17.60 – $20.88 per hour. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
