Shift Supervisor
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the production shift. This role drives daily execution of production plans, labor performance, quality standards, food safety compliance, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives while developing frontline employees and maintaining accountability across the operation.
Production Performance & Execution- Lead daily execution of the production schedule and ensure production targets are achieved.
- Monitor hourly production performance and address bottlenecks.
- Coordinate changeovers and shift resources to maximize productivity.
- Manage labor utilization and overtime requirements.
- Ensure daily production volumes, quality, and service levels are achieved.
- Monitor equipment performance and proactively address operational issues.
- Lead first-level troubleshooting before escalating to Maintenance.
- Support equipment startups, changeovers, and operational readiness.
- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Support commissioning, trials, and process improvement activities.
- Conduct daily shift meetings and communicate expectations.
- Train, coach, and develop production employees.
- Manage attendance, performance, and employee accountability.
- Support employee engagement and cross‑training initiatives.
- Escalate performance concerns to Operations Manager as required.
- Promote a safe and respectful workplace.
- Lead safety observations and incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, BRC, GMP, and company standards.
- Verify production records, CCPs, and quality checks are completed.
- Support internal, customer, and certification audits.
- 5+ years of experience supervising in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of Packaging Equipment, processing, and hands‑on experience with troubleshooting.
- Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with automated packaging, conveying, weighing, and processing equipment.
- Ability to diagnose production issues involving machine settings, sensors, film tracking, and weight control.
- Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles and equipment reliability.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be available to work the afternoon shift (2:30PM – 11:00PM), Monday through Friday.
- Must be willing to work occasional overtime, weekends, or extended hours to support production requirements, customer demand, and operational needs.
- Must be capable of supporting shift startup, shift handovers, and end‑of‑shift reporting activities.
