Kennel Assistant

To become familiar with general care, husbandry and behaviour of shelter animals.

As the Volunteer Assistant, Kennel, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

• Ensure the kennel facilities are sterile and disinfected and maintain overall cleanliness of the facility.
• Perform general housekeeping duties including laundry, clean and disinfect kennels and other shelter areas.
• Feed animals, clean food bowls and litter boxes, refill water dishes, prepare food.
• Exercise and socialize animals.
• Perform additional duties and undertakes special projects as assigned.
• Preference given to those enrolled in a post-secondary course of Animal Health such as Animal Care, Veterinary Technician or similar.
• Work within a positive team environment.
• Become familiar with the processes of Animal Services such as stray animal intake, by-law enforcement, animal adoptions.
• Become familiar with animal husbandry and unique needs of shelter animals.

Minimum 1 year experience with animals.

This is a Special Event commitment starting . Shifts are available on the following days

Online H&S training required (as per Town of Caledon), Fear Free Shelters Certificate. On site orientation and training will be provided.
