Assistant Financial Accountant

We're recruiting an Assistant Financial Accountant to join a high-performing finance team within an established international business. You'll get exposure well beyond the standard month-end routine, working across financial reporting, controls, audit, tax, business planning and process improvement. What makes this role interesting?

You'll work closely with senior finance colleagues and build relationships across areas including underwriting, actuarial and claims, giving you a much wider understanding of how finance supports a commercial business. There's also a real opportunity to improve how things are done, getting involved in reporting efficiencies, automation and wider finance projects rather than simply maintaining existing processes. What will you be doing?

Playing a key role in the month-end close, including journals and reporting Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations across different systems, entities and currencies Supporting the development of strong financial controls and processes Helping improve reporting efficiencies and finance automation Working with stakeholders across the wider business to understand and interpret financial information Supporting year-end audit and contributing to statutory accounts Assisting with business planning, regulatory reporting and tax returns Gaining exposure to technical accounting within an international environment Representing finance on projects and wider business initiatives What you'll need to succeed You'll ideally be a part-qualified accountant who has already developed a good grounding in financial accounting and is now looking for greater responsibility and exposure.

You'll bring:
Part-qualified accounting status Strong reconciliation experience Good Excel and financial systems skills A sound understanding of accounting principles and financial controls Excellent attention to detail Confidence managing deadlines and priorities A proactive approach and willingness to improve processes Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively This would particularly suit someone who wants more breadth, more visibility and a clearer opportunity to develop.
