The RoleDo you thrive on organisation, problem-solving and helping teams deliver their best work? Are you looking for an opportunity to play a central role in supporting strategic projects and services that make a difference to local communities? If so, we'd love to hear from you.
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Business Support Officer to join our Strategy, Policy and Area Working Team. This is an exciting opportunity to take a lead role in delivering high-quality business support across a diverse and fast-paced service that helps shape the Council's priorities, policies and partnerships.
As Business Support Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating and leading day-to-day business support activity, ensuring that systems, processes and administrative functions run efficiently and effectively. You will work closely with the Head of Service, senior managers and colleagues across the organisation, providing vital support that enables teams to deliver their objectives and achieve positive outcomes for residents.
The role is varied and rewarding, encompassing diary and schedule management, event and meeting coordination, financial administration, information management and project support. You will also play a key role in maintaining and developing business support systems, supporting performance monitoring, managing information and records, and ensuring compliance with council policies and procedures.
Working across a range of strategic service areas, you will build strong relationships with colleagues and partner organisations, helping to improve ways of working and supporting continuous improvement. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, working collaboratively and contributing to the successful delivery of council priorities.
You will be an organised and motivated individual with experience of delivering high-quality business support within a busy and complex environment. You'll be confident managing competing priorities, coordinating multiple activities and ensuring that work is delivered accurately and to deadline.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build effective working relationships with colleagues, senior managers and external partners. You'll be comfortable working independently when required, while also contributing positively as part of a wider team.
We are looking for someone with experience of developing and maintaining business support systems and processes, organising meetings and events, managing diaries and schedules, and supporting the preparation of reports, documentation and information for decision-making.
Experience of financial administration, including processing and monitoring payments, would also be advantageous.
Strong digital skills are essential, along with experience of using a variety of business systems and software packages. You should be confident managing information, maintaining databases and supporting the effective use of technology to improve service delivery.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who shares our values, takes pride in delivering excellent support services, embraces new challenges and is committed to helping our teams make a positive difference for Bolton's residents and communities.
If this role is of interest to you, then we would love to hear from you.
Explain why it’s important to work as part of a team and what skills you need to do so.
Describe your experience of working with minimum supervision and using your own initiative to complete tasks.
What experience do you have of making financial transactions, for example, paying invoices. How would you best use your judgement to prioritise these and manage competing demands?
