Job Description & How to Apply Below

'This role is part of Bolton Council's School Leaver Apprenticeship Programme a dedicated initiative to support young people as they take their first steps into the world of work. We recognise that young people are under-represented in our workforce, and we're committed to changing that by offering real opportunities to learn, grow, and build a meaningful career within the Council. Ready to take your first step into the world of work?

Join Bolton Council's School Leaver Apprenticeship Programme and gain hands-on experience while earning a salary and working towards a recognised qualification. You'll learn new skills, meet new people, build your confidence and discover what it's like to work for your local council. Forget the idea of stuffy offices and spending your days filing paperwork. As a Business Support Apprentice, no two days are the same.

You could be helping customers, organising meetings, updating records, supporting projects, attending events, or working with other teams across the Council to keep services running smoothly. With support from experienced colleagues every step of the way. You'll also work towards a Level 2 or Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, developing the knowledge and experience needed to 'Xcelerate' your future career whilst making a real difference to the people and communities of Bolton.

These apprenticeship opportunities will be located within various teams and departments across Bolton Council. To find out more, please read the 'Which Team Fits You?' document attached. If you would like to be considered for a particular team you can indicate this on your application.

Role specifics:
Successful candidates will undertake either a level 2 or level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship based on prior achievement. To undertake the level 3 apprenticeship applicants must have GCSE maths and English (4/C or above) or equivalent. If applicants do not already have GCSE maths and English (4/C or above) or equivalent, they will undertake the level 2 apprenticeship - and work towards achieving functional skills maths and English alongside the apprenticeship.

Are you determined, organised, and ready to learn? This is a developmental role, ideal if you are a recent school leaver with little or no previous experience. We're looking for potential, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude. If you're motivated, willing to learn, and ready to start your career with Bolton Council, we'd love to hear from you. To ensure we meet our aims for the school leaver programme and comply with apprenticeship funding rules, we are looking for young people who are passionate about joining Bolton Council, a team player who is not afraid to try new things and is able to listen and learn from others.
