Role
We are looking for a highly organised and motivated Market Manager (Operations) to oversee the day‑to‑day management and operation of our markets. This hands‑on role requires strong leadership, operational management skills, and a commitment to delivering a safe, vibrant and successful market environment for traders, customers and visitors.
Responsibilities- Ensure smooth and efficient running of market operations, maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with traders, customers, stakeholders and partner organisations.
- Lead daily market operations, manage and support staff and contractors, oversee market layouts, trader allocations and licensing arrangements.
- Monitor market performance, identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Investigate and resolve customer and trader enquiries or complaints promptly.
- Oversee site maintenance, cleanliness, security and general operational standards.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, risk assessments and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor budgets, income, expenditure and performance targets, support planning and delivery of market events, promotions and special initiatives.
- Prepare reports, performance data and operational updates for senior management.
- NABMA Diploma in Market Administration, or willingness to undertake the required training.
- Experience in operational services with ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, including weekends.
- Ability to manage operational budgets using a variety of systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of pest control and food safety issues and their enforcement in trading environments.
- Knowledge of procedures relating to monetary collection, arrears management and debt recovery.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, proactive and flexible approach.
- Strong leadership and problem‑solving skills, commitment to exceptional customer service.
- Annual salary £38,220 to £41,771 with a 7 % out‑of‑hours enhancement.
