The SENCO is an integral part of Moorgate Primary School. We are looking to appoint an experienced whole school SENCO who has knowledge and understanding of working with children with special needs and their families. We are looking for someone to join our enthusiastic, caring and committed team. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills (oral and written), be resilient and have good time management.
They will have the ability to cope with deadlines and statutory requirements.
The post is busy and demanding and requires a highly motivated and organised individual who will need a pleasant and calm approach, be able to undertake a wide range of duties and be prepared to take on “anything” from the most basic to the most complex. The applicant should also be able to work as part of a team, and have a good sense of humour.
The post requires you to be responsible for the welfare and education of pupils in the age range 2 11 years, sharing in the ethos and vision of the school, moving towards its aims, and having due regard to the school’s policies and practice.
Key Responsibilities- Lead on the strategic development of SEND provision across the school
- Have a strong understanding and ensure the effective implementation of the SEND Code of Practice
- Coordinate provision for pupils with SEND, including those with EHCPs
- Work collaboratively with staff to promote inclusive, high-quality teaching
- Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies to support pupils’ needs
- Monitor, review, and evaluate the impact of SEND provision and interventions
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination, or be willing to work towards it
- Have experience of supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs
- Demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills
- Be committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and improving outcomes for all pupils
- Have a nurturing child-centred approach
- A supportive and dedicated staff team
