SEN Teaching Assistant – SEN Primary School – Bolton

Milk Education is more than a supply partner – we’re a community for educators. We’re currently recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive SEN Primary School in Bolton on a long‑term basis, with either an ASAP or September start available.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping them reach their full potential. Working within a specialist primary setting, you’ll provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, develop key life skills and build confidence throughout their educational journey.

The school caters for children with a variety of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school prides itself on creating a nurturing, inclusive and engaging environment where every child is encouraged to succeed and celebrate their achievements.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers, therapists, SEND professionals and support staff to ensure pupils receive the personalised support they need both academically and emotionally.

• Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs
• Supporting pupils during lessons to help them engage with learning activities and achieve their individual targets
• Assisting with communication, emotional regulation and social development throughout the school day
• Supporting pupils with sensory needs and implementing personalised support strategies
• Working alongside teachers to adapt learning resources and classroom activities to meet individual needs
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours
• Supporting pupils with personal development, social interaction and life skills
• Building positive and professional relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
• Implementing support strategies outlined within EHCPs and individual learning plans
• Promoting a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a primary school, SEN setting or care environment
• Previous experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or additional learning needs is highly desirable
• A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND and helping them thrive
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach
• The ability to build trust and positive relationships with children who may require additional emotional and behavioural support
• Confidence supporting a range of learning abilities, communication needs and developmental stages
• An understanding of safeguarding, SEND and positive behaviour support strategies is desirable
• Qualifications in education, childcare, health & social care or a related field are beneficial but not essential
