Key Responsibilities
- Teaching, Learning and Curriculum
- Deliver a broad and balanced primary curriculum including:
- English (phonics, reading and writing)
- Mathematics
- Science
- Humanities
- Computing
- PSHE
- Create a calm, structured and engaging learning environment.
- Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Embed communication, social interaction and independence skills throughout the school day.
- Support the development of life skills, emotional literacy and positive relationships.
- Deliver a broad and balanced primary curriculum including:
- Assessment and Progress
- Monitor and assess academic, social‑emotional and developmental progress.
- Use assessment data to identify barriers to learning and inform next steps.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, behaviour and achievement.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews and annual review meetings.
- Build positive partnerships with parents and carers to support pupil success.
- Behaviour, Wellbeing and Safeguarding
- Foster a safe, nurturing and trauma‑informed classroom culture.
- Implement positive behaviour support strategies and regulation approaches.
- Support pupils to develop self‑regulation, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and promote pupil welfare at all times.
- Teamwork and Professional Development
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists and external professionals.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary planning and integrated support programmes.
- Attend CPD, staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Share best practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of the provision.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PCGE 14+ qualifications.
- Degree qualification.
- Strong classroom practice and a commitment to inclusive education.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced challenges in education.
- Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Experience teaching pupils with SEMH, SEND or additional needs.
- Alternative Provision, PRU or Special School experience.
- Trauma‑informed or nurture‑based practice.
- Positive Behaviour Support approaches.
- Phonics intervention and literacy support.
- Experience supporting communication needs, including AAC or visual communication systems.
- Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD and complex needs.
Salary is paid to scale and will depend on your skills and experience. The role is permanent.
