SEND Teaching Assistant – Permanent, full time from September 2026

This SEND Teaching Assistant role offers the opportunity to work full time in a specialist setting supporting pupils with additional needs. The school provides a structured and nurturing environment where consistency, relationships, and emotional support are central to daily practice. This role is ideal for a SEND Teaching Assistant who is committed to supporting pupils’ learning, behaviour, and well‑being on a long‑term basis.

Duties

as SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide classroom and pastoral support for pupils with additional learning and emotional needs
  • Support pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis as directed by teaching staff
  • Assist pupils with engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour strategies
  • Support learning activities and help adapt tasks to meet individual needs
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
  • Work closely with teachers and wider support teams to deliver consistent support
  • Follow individual support plans and agreed behaviour strategies

    Contribute to a calm, safe, and structured learning environment
  • Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour and emotional support
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Commitment to working in a permanent, full-time role
  • Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Passion for inclusive education and supporting pupil development
