Behaviour Support Worker | SEMH Secondary School (Bolton)

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Behaviour Support Worker to join a specialist SEMH secondary provision in Bolton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on building positive relationships and supporting pupils who require additional guidance with their behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in education.

You will play a vital role in helping pupils develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to achieve success both academically and personally.

The Role
  • Deliver tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
  • Support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and reinforce established routines.
  • Use de‑escalation techniques to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
  • Build strong, professional relationships that encourage trust and engagement.
  • Help create a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encourage pupils to develop independence, confidence, and self‑regulation skills.

About You
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people in education, youth work, residential care, sports coaching, or similar settings.
  • A calm, confident, and resilient approach when working with challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and establish healthy boundaries.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of routine, structure, and consistency.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
