Driver essential

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the Bolton area from September.

This is a full-time opportunity within a school that supports young people with SEND and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges. The school plays a vital role within the local community, providing a supportive and structured environment for students who require a more tailored approach to education.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support students both inside and outside the classroom. While there will be occasions where individual support is required, the role will primarily involve supporting a range of pupils across the school, helping to promote positive behaviour, engagement, and academic progress.

We are looking for a resilient, patient, and proactive individual who is confident working with young people who may display challenging behaviours and require additional emotional and behavioural support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students in accessing learning and participating in classroom activities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support when required
  • Promote positive behaviour and implement behaviour management strategies
  • Support students' social, emotional, and academic development
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and other support staff
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEMH, behavioural, education, care and support setting
  • Previous SEND experience
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Calm, resilient, and nurturing approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships and remain professional in challenging situations
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one. (Prospero can provide this service)
What's on Offer
  • September start
  • Full-time, long-term opportunity
  • Supportive and experienced staff team
  • Free on-site parking
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people within the local community
