Full-Time | Long-Term (Academic Year) We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established specialist secondary school in Bury for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.

This is a full-time position for the entire academic year, offering an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people with additional needs while working within a supportive and experienced staff team.

The school caters for pupils aged 11-19 with a wide range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), ADHD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Every pupil has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and the school is committed to delivering personalised learning and helping every student achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will be patient, resilient and passionate about supporting young people who require additional encouragement to succeed both academically and personally.

The Role
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups across a range of curriculum subjects.
  • Assist students with their learning, communication and emotional development.
  • Support pupils during practical, vocational and life skills lessons.
  • Help implement individual learning strategies and EHCP targets.
  • Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour throughout the school day.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to provide the highest standard of support.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable.
  • Experience with Autism, SEMH, MLD, SLD, ADHD or communication needs would be advantageous.
  • Calm, resilient and able to build positive relationships with young people.
  • Flexible, proactive and able to use initiative.
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
What We Offer - £112.50 per day.

Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.

Full academic year placement with the potential for a permanent position.
