Are you passionate about helping young people succeed? Do you have the confidence, resilience and interpersonal skills to positively influence learner attendance, engagement and behaviour?

As a Positive Engagement Officer, you will be a visible presence across campus, supporting the College’s commitment to improving attendance, punctuality, behaviour and learner engagement across our Education Programmes for Young People (EPYP).

The role involves proactive intervention with learners, promoting high standards of conduct and professionalism, and working closely with parents/carers to address concerns before they escalate.

Ideally you will have:

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade 4 or equivalent
  • Experience working with young people in an educational, training or support setting.
  • Experience supporting attendance, behaviour or learner engagement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people.
  • Ability to manage challenging or sensitive situations calmly and professionally.
  • Good IT skills and record-keeping ability.

Day to day you will be responsible for

  • Monitor and support learner attendance, punctuality and engagement.
  • Follow up absences and attendance concerns in line with College procedures.
  • Promote positive learner behaviour and professionalism across campus.
  • Conduct learner engagement checks and corridor patrols during the College day.
  • Support learners to overcome barriers affecting participation and success.
  • Build positive relationships with learners while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
  • Communicate effectively with learners, parents/carers and College staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner interventions and engagement activity.

37 hours per week (Term-time only – 38 weeks per year)
