We are currently recruiting for an SEMH Teacher to join a welcoming and specialist SEMH school in Bolton
, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
, alongside a range of additional learning and behavioural needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher who is passionate about providing high-quality, personalised and inclusive education and helping pupils who may have struggled within mainstream education to re-engage with learning and make meaningful progress.
The RoleAs an SEMH Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, highly differentiated lessons that are adapted to the individual needs, abilities and emotional needs of each pupil.
You will work closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff, behaviour specialists and wider professionals to create a supportive, structured and nurturing learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons for pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
Adapting the curriculum to meet a range of academic, behavioural, emotional and social needs
.Using a range of creative, practical and personalised teaching strategies to engage pupils in learning.
Supporting pupils to develop their confidence, resilience, independence and social skills
.Creating a calm, consistent and structured classroom environment.
Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
.Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to EHCP outcomes, individual learning plans and pupil targets
.Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced challenges within education.
Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, parents/carers and external professionals.
Promoting positive behaviour, engagement, emotional wellbeing and re-engagement with education.
Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, inclusion and pupil welfare
.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
QTS or a recognised teaching qualification.
Experience working within an SEMH, SEND, PRU, alternative provision or specialist education setting
.Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, challenging behaviour, ASD, ADHD or additional learning needs
.A strong understanding of differentiation, behaviour management and personalised learning
.The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
Confidence managing challenging behaviour and supporting pupils with complex needs.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
Experience with in an SEMH or specialist setting is highly desirable
, although strong candidates with relevant mainstream teaching and behaviour management experience will also be considered.
Competitive daily rate of £170 – £220
