Cover People are currently seeking a Secondary SEMH Teacher to work within a specialist educational setting in Bolton
. The school supports young people who may experience social, emotional and mental health needs, and is looking for a teacher who can provide a consistent, supportive and engaging approach to education.

This opportunity is available from September 2026 and is offered on a full-time, long-term basis
, with the possibility of a permanent position.

• Start: September 2026
• Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday
• Contract: Long-term, with potential to become permanent
• Rate: £160 £ 230 per day DOE

Teachers who have previously worked in mainstream secondary schools, alternative provision, PRUs or SEND settings and have experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs are encouraged to apply.

• Deliver lessons that are accessible, engaging and appropriate for pupils with a range of learning and emotional needs.
• Adapt planning, resources and teaching strategies to help pupils remain engaged and make progress.
• Provide clear structure and predictable routines to support positive behaviour and learning.
• Build effective relationships with pupils and encourage them to develop confidence and independence.
• Record and review pupil progress, contributing to individual targets and EHCP outcomes where required.
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff, leadership and other professionals involved in pupil support.
• Respond effectively to challenging behaviour using calm, consistent and positive approaches.
  
  Play an active role in the wider school community, including meetings, training and professional development.

The successful teacher will:

• Have QTS, QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Ideally have experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND or behavioural difficulties.
• Be confident managing challenging behaviour while remaining calm and professional.
• Be able to establish positive boundaries and create a supportive learning environment.
• Adapt their teaching to meet individual pupil needs and abilities.
• Communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues, families and other professionals.
• Show resilience, patience and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.

• Current CV including full education and employment history.
• Proof of Right to Work and UK address.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new DBS application.
• A minimum of 2 professional references.
• A dependable and professional approach to work.

All pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay where applicable.
