HIGHFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL
Teaching Assistant Level 2 + SNA

SALARY:
Grade D SCP Point 6 to 11 £ 26,847 to £29,071 plus SEN Allowance
ACTUAL SALARY: £19,718 to £21,351 plus pro rata SEN Allowance
STATUS:
Initially Fixed Term until 31st August 2027, with an opportunity for the post to be made permanent

HOURS:

32.5 hours per week, 8.30 3.30pm, Term Time only
REQUIRED FROM:
Monday 9th November 2026

The Headteacher and Governors of this happy and successful school are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated Level 2 teaching assistant to support children in Year 2 with speech, language and communication needs. Previous experience of working with children who have an Education, Health and Care Plan is desirable for this role.

We are seeking to appoint a teaching assistant who will be:

  • passionate about children’s learning and wellbeing
  • highly motivated and able to establish good working relationships with pupils and colleagues, acting as a role model
  • committed to working in partnership with parents
  • able to demonstrate knowledge, skills and experience of working with children with specific SEND needs
  • proactive and can work with individual children and small groups, both within and outside the classroom

Essential

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2, BTEC Level 2, or equivalent in teaching assistant/supporting teaching and learning in schools
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths

Desirable:

  • ELKLAN training (or equivalent) in Speech, Language and Communication support
  • Training or experience in supporting children with Autism (or equivalent SEND training)
  • First Aid Training
  • Attention for Learning/Attention for Autism training
