As we begin to deliver our Local Area SEND Reform Plan, we are seeking an outstanding Deputy Head of SEND to lead our strategic focus on early intervention and inclusive practice. This is a rare opportunity to make a significant impact, helping to shape services that ensure children receive the right support at the right time and in the right place.

Reporting to the Head of SEND, you will provide strategic leadership for early intervention, inclusion and SEND system improvement across the local area, ensuring that children and young people receive timely, appropriate support at the earliest opportunity. You will lead on the development of effective early identification systems, graduated responses and evidence-informed interventions, reducing escalation to higher levels of need wherever possible and improving outcomes for children.

You will also lead on the prevention and early intervention elements of the SEND Reforms, including the universal offer, targeted support offer and targeted plus support offer, Experts and Hand offer and Individual Support Plans. Working in partnership with schools, families, our parent carer forum, health and social care colleagues you will champion and promote inclusive practice, build capacity within settings and ensure that resources are targeted effectively to prevent needs from becoming more complex

The ideal candidate for this post will be a passionate and ambitious SEND leader who believes that early intervention, inclusion and partnership working can transform the lives of children and young people.

You will have substantial leadership experience within SEND, education, health or children's services, a strong understanding of SEND legislation and current national policy developments and demonstrate a genuine commitment to inclusion and early intervention.

You will be an effective communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with children, young people, families and all stakeholders at both a strategic and whole school level and an individual child level. You will also be a team player, willing to contribute to our supportive team.
