Monarch Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist school in Bolton that supports pupils aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
This is not a traditional Teaching Assistant role. The school is looking for dedicated Intervention Support Workers who can build positive relationships, remain calm under pressure and help young people overcome significant barriers to learning and engagement.
The school follows a trauma-informed approach and uses the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy). Many pupils have experienced adverse childhood experiences and require consistent adults who can provide stability, support and understanding.
The successful candidates will be patient, resilient and relationship-focused. Staff who are able to connect with young people, de-escalate situations and maintain professional boundaries are highly valued within the setting.
Due to the nature of the role, all applicants must be drivers with access to their own vehicle and business insurance. There may be occasions where pupils require support away from the classroom environment, accessing approved local facilities such as libraries, sports centres and community resources as part of planned interventions and behaviour support strategies.
The role will involve:- Supporting pupils with SEMH, ASC and additional behavioural needs
- Building trusted, consistent relationships with young people
- Delivering one-to-one and small group interventions
- Supporting pupils during periods of dysregulation
- Implementing behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams

- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, ASC or behavioural needs
- A trauma-informed approach to supporting challenging behaviour
