Product Development Engineer
Bolton | £40,000 - £45,000 DOE | Full Time | Permanent
A well-established and highly regarded SME manufacturing and engineering business based in Bolton is seeking an experienced Product Development Engineer.
The role provides the chance to work on varied and technically interesting projects from concept through to manufacture, within a collaborative and supportive engineering environment.
You will play a key role in driving new product development projects, improving existing products and supporting innovation across the business while working closely with engineering, production, sales, and marketing teams.

Key responsibilities- Leading new and existing product development projects, including design, testing, and implementation
- Evaluating new product ideas and supporting feasibility and industrialisation activities
- Working closely with engineering, production, sales and marketing teams to develop technical specifications and solutions
- Managing product testing, experimentation and data analysis using internal and external testing services
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and product enhancements
- Ensuring compliance with quality standards, design control processes and risk management activities including DFMEA
- Managing multiple projects to agreed timescales and budgets
- Producing technical documentation, reports and benchmarking analysis
- Providing technical support to internal teams and customers
- A qualification in an engineering discipline
- Previous experience within a product development or design engineering role
- Experience working within manufacturing or engineering environments
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining methodologies and engineering practices
- Experience using 3D CAD software, ideally Solid Works
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- The ability to work effectively across multiple departments and manage competing priorities
- A proactive and innovative approach to engineering and product development
