Portfolio Delivery Team Lead – Systems Engineer
OverviewAs a Systems Engineer at MBDA, you will be involved in all aspects of missile systems development, from early concept studies to series production and in‑service support. This role in the Portfolio Delivery Team offers exposure to the full product lifecycle and helps you build a clear understanding of the business, operations, and projects.
Responsibilities- Lead delivery of MBDA’s Complex Weapons Portfolio, managing technical risks, obsolescence and engineering commonality.
- Review predicted and measured benefits to ensure realism from an engineering point of view.
- Work with projects to improve the efficiency of commonality, modularity & reuse and reduce hardships.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure programme plans for dependencies exist.
- Act as the point of contact between Functions, Equipment Teams, Centres of Excellence and the Portfolio when risks or issues arise.
- Ensure portfolio obsolescence removal solutions do not affect established dependencies.
- Manage multiple project priorities and present concise summaries of complex problems to senior stakeholders.
- Significant experience in an engineering discipline with a strong grasp of the product lifecycle, particularly the design and development process for electro‑mechanical equipment.
- Proven ability to work with, influence, and challenge senior MOD and MBDA management.
- Flexible mindset—capable of tackling problems and developing innovative solutions for design challenges.
- Strong analytical skills to address sophisticated technical problems with high degrees of uncertainty, complexity, and inconsistency.
- Excellent prioritisation skills when handling issues from multiple projects.
- Capacity to summarise multi‑faceted problems and influence, lead, and empower teams positively.
- Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2–3 days per week on site.
- Salary: up to £55,000, depending on experience.
- Security clearance:
British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship (BPSS required).
- Company bonus: up to £2,500 (based on performance).
- Maximum pension contribution (employer + employee) of up to 14%.
